Mansion Sports – Arsenal, having already spent over £200 million (approximately $268.9 million) in the current summer transfer window, are now reportedly turning their attention to Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, with the possibility of securing him on a season-long loan for the 2025–2026 campaign.

Although Rodrygo has returned to training with his teammates at the Valdebebas facility, his future at the Spanish giants remains uncertain. 

The 24-year-old Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu throughout the summer, with speculation intensifying after the FIFA Club World Cup.

Arsenal’s Focus Shifts After Securing Viktor Gyökeres

Earlier in the window, Arsenal were considered one of the leading contenders to sign Rodrygo outright. 

However, the club’s priorities shifted after successfully completing the transfer of striker Viktor Gyökeres.

Now that Gyökeres has officially arrived in North London, The Gunners are reportedly prepared to reignite their interest in the Brazilian winger. 

According to The Times, Arsenal are monitoring whether Rodrygo could be made available on a loan basis—a move that would align with the club’s parallel pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

By exploring a loan deal, Arsenal could make the prospect of signing both Rodrygo and Eze far more financially viable, particularly given Rodrygo’s substantial market valuation.

Real Madrid’s Steep Price Tag and Strong Interest from Top Clubs

Real Madrid are said to have set Rodrygo’s price at around €100 million (approximately $116.7 million). 

Despite this valuation, no formal offers have been submitted so far, although strong interest has emerged from major clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.

Adding intrigue to the situation, reports indicate that head coach Xabi Alonso is “not entirely satisfied” with Rodrygo’s recent performances. 

The forward’s goal return last season was underwhelming—just one goal in his final 25 appearances—limiting his impact in crucial moments.

Intense Competition in Madrid’s Attack

While Rodrygo has previously demonstrated his quality—playing a key role in helping Real Madrid win two UEFA Champions League titles—his chances of securing a starting position under Alonso appear slim, particularly if the coach adopts a system with only two main forwards.

In such a setup, Rodrygo would face competition for playing time from the bench against new signing Franco Mastantuono and Brahim Díaz. 

Alonso also has the tactical flexibility to deploy Fede Valverde or Arda Güler on the right wing, further reducing Rodrygo’s opportunities for regular minutes.

Loan Move Could Present an Ideal Scenario for Arsenal

Given the uncertainty surrounding his role, Real Madrid might consider sanctioning a loan move for Rodrygo, particularly if internal circumstances shift in the weeks leading up to the closure of the summer transfer window.

Should this happen, Arsenal would have a prime opportunity to secure the winger without committing to an immediate, sizeable transfer fee—strengthening their attacking options while maintaining financial flexibility.
