Mansion Sports - Bayern Munich is growing increasingly confident of securing the services of Colombian winger Luis Díaz, following the player's formal request to leave Liverpool. 

According to reports from Bild and Sky Sports, representatives from the Bundesliga champions are set to meet with Liverpool’s management in the coming days to finalize an agreement on the transfer fee.

This latest development follows Díaz’s clear expression of his desire to join Bayern Munich, marking a pivotal shift in the summer transfer window. 

The move, if completed, would further underscore Bayern’s intent to reinforce their squad under new manager Vincent Kompany.

Luis Díaz Submits Official Transfer Request to Liverpool

Luis Díaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 from FC Porto for an initial fee of €45 million (approximately £37.5 million), with an additional €15 million (£12.5 million) in performance-related add-ons. 

At the time, Liverpool successfully fended off competition from Tottenham Hotspur to secure the Colombian’s signature.

Since his arrival at Anfield, Díaz has made over 100 appearances for the club and has played a significant role in their recent success. His contributions include winning both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, as well as reaching the UEFA Champions League final. 

In the 2023–2024 Premier League season, Díaz scored 13 goals in 36 appearances, playing a crucial part in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, which saw them finish ten points clear of Arsenal.

However, at 28 years of age, Díaz is reportedly seeking a new challenge and views a move to the Bundesliga as the ideal next step in his professional journey.

Bayern Munich Emerges as Luis Díaz’s Preferred Destination

Despite prior interest from Barcelona, Díaz has made it clear that Bayern Munich is his destination of choice. 

The German giants have already reached personal terms with the player, which include a contract running until 2029 and an annual salary of €14 million.

Bayern’s head coach Vincent Kompany has given his full backing to the transfer, signaling that the move is part of a broader plan to enhance the club’s competitiveness for the upcoming season. 

The endorsement from Kompany, along with the agreement on personal terms, has solidified Bayern’s position as frontrunners in the race for Díaz’s signature.

Liverpool Maintains Firm Stance as Bayern Prepares Improved Offer

Despite Díaz’s request to leave, Liverpool remains reluctant to sanction his departure. Under the leadership of new manager Arne Slot, the club has already rejected Bayern Munich’s initial offer of €67.5 million (£58.5 million), holding firm on a valuation that exceeds €80 million (£70 million).

Nonetheless, Bayern Munich is reportedly prepared to return with an enhanced bid surpassing €70 million in an effort to accelerate the transfer process. 

Negotiations are ongoing, with both clubs keen to reach a resolution that reflects the player's value and ambition.

Agreement Appears Imminent

With the majority of key components in place — a formal transfer request from the player, personal terms agreed upon, and full managerial approval from Bayern — the final hurdle remains the transfer fee. 

Given the pace of recent developments and the willingness of both parties to engage, a completed deal appears imminent.

Should an agreement be reached in the coming days, Luis Díaz’s move to Bayern Munich is expected to be announced officially, marking one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer window.
