Mansion Sports - FC Barcelona has officially announced the arrival of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a season-long loan. 

The 27-year-old English international becomes the club's second senior signing of the summer, following the acquisition of goalkeeper Joan Garcia last year.

Contract Details and Financial Arrangement

As part of the agreement, Rashford accepted a pay cut to facilitate his move to Camp Nou. Barcelona will cover the majority of his wages during the loan spell. 

The deal includes an option to make the transfer permanent for a reported fee of €30 million. However, if the Catalan club chooses not to activate this clause, they will still be obliged to pay a €5 million penalty to Manchester United.

In his first interview with the club’s official media, Rashford expressed his excitement about joining Barcelona. He arrived in Catalunya on Sunday to finalize the transfer and took part in his first training session with the team on Tuesday evening.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick played a pivotal role in persuading Rashford to join the club. The two reportedly had a direct phone conversation on Thursday, just days before the transfer was finalized.

“One of the biggest reasons I’m here is because of my conversation with Hansi Flick. What he achieved last season and throughout his career proves he’s one of the best managers in the game,” said Rashford.

“Yes, it was an easy decision for me. I already had the intention to come here back in January,” he stated.

“Six months later, the opportunity came again to make a decision — and I had already made up my mind long before.”

When asked about pundit Gary Lineker’s comment that “Rashford isn’t the problem, Manchester United is,” Rashford responded with composure and respect:

“Manchester United is going through a transitional period. But that club has been a major part of my life and career. I have nothing negative to say about Manchester, and I wish them all the best moving forward.”
