Mansion Sports – The transfer saga involving Swedish forward Alexander Isak is showing no signs of slowing down, as Newcastle United and Liverpool remain locked in a competitive pursuit for the talented striker. 

Despite Liverpool briefly cooling their interest following a speculative bid last week, the Premier League champions are expected to reignite their approach before the summer transfer window comes to a close.

Isak returned to full training with Newcastle earlier this week, after spending a brief period with his former club, Real Sociedad. 

However, multiple sources suggest that the player harbors a strong desire to make the move to Anfield.

While Isak is reportedly keen to join Liverpool, Newcastle United are unlikely to sanction any move unless they secure a replacement for their leading striker. The situation could shift quickly if RB Leipzig's Benjamin Šeško agrees to a transfer to the northeast of England.

In addition to Šeško, Newcastle are also monitoring Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as an alternative reinforcement. 

Should the Magpies successfully bring in either or both of these targets, it would significantly increase the likelihood of Isak being allowed to depart before the transfer window closes.

This figure would not only set a new record for the most expensive transfer in English football history, but it would also surpass Liverpool’s own record-breaking acquisition of Florian Wirtz earlier this summer. 

With three years remaining on Isak’s contract, Newcastle are in a commanding position in negotiations and feel no urgency to part with their prized asset.
