Donnarumma’s Agent Threatens Legal Action Against PSG

Mansion Sports - Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, has threatened to pursue legal action against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) following head coach Luis Enrique’s decision to exclude the UEFA Champions League-winning goalkeeper from the squad.

The Italian international is now almost certain to leave the club this summer after being left out of the roster for the UEFA Super Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Luis Enrique has taken full responsibility for the move, stating that he wanted “a different profile” in the goalkeeping position.

However, the decision has angered Donnarumma, who described himself as “disappointed and heartbroken,” prompting his agent to issue a stern response.

Raiola’s Disappointment Over PSG’s Conduct

In an interview with Sky Italia, Raiola expressed his shock at the treatment his client has received from PSG.

“We are surprised by PSG. There has been no respect from the club after four years together. PSG made several demands, and in the end, we accepted an offer below Gigio’s current salary because he wanted to stay.”

“But they changed the terms, and at that point, we agreed to postpone negotiations until after the Champions League final,” Raiola explained.

He added that a follow-up meeting took place before the FIFA Club World Cup, during which PSG confirmed their desire to continue working with Donnarumma.

“We did not expect something like this to happen in the past ten days. I understand the club’s need to sign a new goalkeeper, but removing Gigio after all he has done for PSG is a major sign of disrespect. I will review this matter with my lawyers,” he stated firmly.

A Decision Seen as Strange and Disappointing

Raiola acknowledged that the decision did come from the coach, but stressed that the coach ultimately works for the club, and thus he wants to understand PSG’s official stance in full.

“A month ago, we were talking about extending the contract, and suddenly the coach’s opinion of Gigio changed. This is what saddens me the most, and in the end, I think it’s better that we don’t renew the contract.”

Lucas Chevalier as Replacement, Donnarumma Heading to the Premier League?

PSG have now signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille as the leading candidate to take over as first-choice goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Donnarumma’s future appears to be leaning toward the Premier League, with Manchester City and Manchester United both mentioned as potential destinations.

“It seems that only Premier League clubs can meet PSG’s excessive financial demands. They talk about respect, but at this point, that respect may only be financial. For us, this is not about abandoning a project, but about finding the best path for Gigio. Even from a public image standpoint, we need to define our position to understand how to deal with the club,” said Raiola.

Manchester City Make a Move, But Dependent on Ederson’s Future

Reports suggest that Manchester City have initiated transfer talks for Donnarumma, though any move will depend on the departure of current goalkeeper Ederson.

Nonetheless, the Italian shot-stopper seems to be on the verge of leaving PSG, just months after lifting the Champions League trophy with Luis Enrique’s side that dominated European football.
